June 14-16 Los Angeles to London
16.06.2010
Flight
(Jeremy) a great flight without any turbulence whatsoever; really finding the flight graphics screens awesome, with speed/wind/direction/flight time details. A slightly different route than normal to pick up some very favourable tailwinds, west across Canada, then once past New York following a polar-route, then across Ireland and into Heathrow. Saw two movies in-flight; Invictus by my favourite actor Morgan Freeman portraying Nelson Mandela and how he used the 1995 rugby world cup to unite South Africa - a truly great movie, and the other a NZ festival film 'Boy' which was another great but bittersweet movie. Very easy arrival and transit through Heathrow.
Heathrow Arrival
(Angela) wow, this was the first of many places on the Monopoly game board to come reality for me! Mum says we will go to Portobello road market as well, and lots more. People were waiting at the entry with little cardboard signs with peoples names on. Aaron didn't have one but he and Dad noticed each other straight away! We zipped off in the car to leave the busy London and headed for their home town, Surbiton.
Aaron and Maz
(Jeremy)cool to see our long-time friends Aaron and Maz again; staying at their house just along the Thames about 15 minute walk along the riverside to Kingston. Nice to chill out for a day or so, and to eat good food again. Weather sunny and mild. Off to a spin class tonight to help keep the fitness levels up..........
Kingston upon Thames
(Christine) a cool walk alongside river Thames took us into Kingston- a lovely shopping area with lots of pedestrian only access and lots of phone shops! Nice coffee/baklava shop went to trouble of sourcing Angela an icecream from elsewhere! Hard to walk a straight line on way home as jet lag set in.
